Day 70, Nov 9th 2018, Short Test Run

Today my friend Lisa asked me to go for a short run, about 5-6k, I thought it was a good opportunity to test out the legs.

We headed to a route we knew well that was nice a flat, allowing me to avoid hills, as we all know they are the calf testers, and I wasn't ready to put them under any strain. Physio always recommends a test run on the flat and to walk the hills to see how everything feels. With that in mind, there are a couple of inclines that are short so it was perfect. The weather was good, for this time of year, so we set off. It was actually a good run but I could feel my left calf around the injury spot, which sets off alarm bells, Is it about to got tight again? Should I stop? Is this what cramp feels like? Am I being paranoid? Is it just weak?....... Don't you just hate the post injury phase, where you are full of doubt and paranoia that something is about to bring your run to an abrupt end.

I actually managed 3.4 miles but the time we had arrived back to the carpark, but, being me, I couldn't leave it on an odd number, and ended up running around the carpark to get my figures up to 4 miles. My calf was sore, but hadn't gone tight. I was actually disappointed, since it did feel different, perhaps its just weak still. Either way I am taking things easily, as I can't afford to get inured again now, otherwise I will have to increase my distance run too much in order to get up to distance in time
